Absolutely incredible scenery and the hike isn't even difficult. But the drive from road n°1 is long (count at least 3 hours each way) and depending on the season and conditions can require several r…fabinico的完整评论

The scenery is stunning on this route. We didn't have a large jeep or anything to drive so we had to do some walking. The rivers were a problem for our car but we managed to get by safely. The crater…Luciniceland的完整评论

In september with a large jeep this route is perfectly manageable. River crossings were fun. Be aware for fissures in the road and drive carefully. We did the drive to Laki in a little bit over 1,5h…Frederic3006的完整评论
I am looking for a 1-2 day hiking trail around Laki. So far I have only found several short ones, but we were hoping to to 1 night of camping there. So my question would be: Is there a cap site and is there a map where we can check how to best combine possible hikes.

Hi there, I think it is possible to make a 2 day hiking trip out of the trails in the area. The terrain is covered in a very sensitive moss and you are only allowed to camp in the campgrounds or on the dirt. I am attaching a link to the official website for Laki Craters: vatnajokulsthjodgardur.is/en/areas/laki-eldgja-langisjor/plan-your-visit/laki I don't think it is very good in helping you determine where to go for an overnight hike. This is a link to the photos I took during our trip to Laki. photos.app.goo.gl/RW6PTYqMSBHKRoJ26 Look at the 7th photo of the map sign that is in the photos. It will show you the trails that are available. The areas near the lakes are very open flat volcanic powder. The areas to the left and below the lakes is a crazy path of jagged rocks that seem impossible to drive through. Make sure you have a good four wheel drive vehicle to get there, take an organized tour or just enjoy other people's photos. It is 2 hours each way on rough roads with many river crossings. If you are adventurous and prepared, you will love it!
I am looking at the distance between Laki Craters, over Sveinstindur and onto Langisjor (only 10km as the bird flies) and I am wondering if there are any hiking trails that connect Laki Craters to Langisjor?
Can you drive a non 4 wheel drive car to the Laki Craters? Pls suggest a local guide company...j
