Sanur is a serene sunrise white sand beach. Good coffee shops and bakeries open bright and early to welcome those walking back from seeing the sun rise, morning stroll and yoga on the long stretch of white sands. Massimo himself still overseas his iconic Italian restaurant serving great food and gelato. Personally, my husband and I like staying at “SMART COMFORT”.... a small boutique establishment - only 8 units - no children under 16 allowed, each unit having it’s own private pool, lounging area, kitchen and living area which you can open for an open air feel but can also completely close, should you want to turn the AC on. It’s also staffed and with security 24 hours. It’s a easy 8 to 10 minute walk through small residential streets towards the beach and the strip where the boutique shops, Massimo’s, cafes, supermarket & beach. We like the easy quick walking access to the main strip, but love the secluded private feel we get by staying at SMART COMFORT. Priced very competitive too, great value for our money!

The promenade along Sanur is 5.38 kilometers long (approx 3.34 miles). I just measured it on google earth. I have ridden most of it on a bicycle. There are some places where you need to get off the bike to go through pedestrian gates, but it is ridable. Many people walk, stroll, and jog along here also, especially in the mornings. You can hire a bike for 50k IDR for an old clunker, or 100K IDR for a newer bike. Some hotels offer bikes for free. You may need to stop occasionally and walk the bike when there is any ceremony at a temple, wedding, procession, or cluster of people. I would not recommend riding the biclcle on the main road (it is very sketchy there indeed).
