I talked my family into booking this excursion and we all definitely had some reservations, but we wanted to do something different since we don’t know if we’ll ever get to Alaska again. I’m so glad … Molly L的完整评论

We were so excited to be apart of the ocean raft ride. But once we got off of our cruise ship, they pointed us in the wrong direction with another tour group. They were very nice to us and got u… H B的完整评论

Boring! Not a bad weather day, overcast. The waves were very small in the bay. The captain said there was strong winds. Really? If so where were the waves that accompany strong winds. Captain w… Kristin D的完整评论
Hi! We are cruising to Sitka on the Carnival Legend in September 2019. We are looking at shore excursions and "VOLCANO COAST EXPLORATION BY OCEAN RAFT" looks awesome to me but, I have a couple of questions. 1. I am disabled and travel with a motorized Scooter. From the description of the tour, it does not appear that the Raft does not stop anywhere that I would have to get on and off and need my scooter, so, do you have some place I can leave my scooter as we board the raft?? 2. Can I take a folding cane with me on the raft?? 3. I can walk, just not long distances. Do you see any problem with me taking this great tour?? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

The raft does not stop anywhere, so you won't be getting on and off. That said, if you have trouble with balancing yourself, this may be an excursion that you might not want to take. You will be sitting on a "saddle" like riding a horse, and there is a bar in front of you that you'll need to hold onto for stability. The weather in Sitka is frequently not very good, and there is a good possibility the ride will be in rough water and in rain and wind. A folding cane on the raft will be of no use to you......there really is no place to stow it, and if the ocean is rough, it will in all likelihood wind up going overboard, or becoming a projectile which will hit someone else in the raft.
We are thinking of booking a cruise that would take us to Sitka in late May/early June? Did anybody go then? Do you see as much as people on later cruises do (for example early July)? Also, can this excursion be arranged on your own on a day that the cruise ship visits Sitka, or are all spaces booked through the cruise ship?

I've been to Alaska 5 times; always late June and early July. We arranged our excursion through the cruise ship. I hope this helps.

We are thinking about going on this excursion during an upcoming Alaska cruise (July 2015). How much of this activity would you characterize as a fast, exhilarating boat ride vs a nature/natural wonder viewing and observation? Does the tour primarily speed around at 50 mph or slow down frequently? Thanks!

Hello Thanks for considering Ocean Raft Adventures. This tour is primarily a nature tour that slows often so that you can view wildlife and scenery and the tour guide gives information about the things you see. One of the very fun things about the ride is the cornering and starts and stops. The boat only travels at top speeds for short times on calm water to create excitment. There is an open water crossing that takes approximately 20 minutes each way that is probably about the longest non stop run on a normal tour. Keep in mind that the tour route is subject to change due to weather conditions. Enjoy your cruise and we hope to see you on an ocean raft adventure in Sitka Alaska Best Regards Kenneth J Rear Ocean Raft Adventures
