The twincharger system is shown in the drawing at right. The TSI is currently available in the Golf GT and the Touran.

In 2005, Volkswagen resurrected the idea with the help of supercharger maker Eaton. Its 1.4-liter TSI direct injection engine was fitted with a turbocharger + supercharger system called "Twincharger".
