The Horsehead Nebula is a part of much larger complex in the constellation Orion. Known collectively as the Orion Molecular Cloud, it also houses other famous objects, such as the Great Orion Nebula.
The blue light comes from electrons whirling at nearly the speed of light around magnetic field lines from the neutron star, which is the crushed, ultra-dense core of the exploded star.
