2007年8月27日 · Re: Evinrude/Johnson Bad Years? it's a word i can't say. yes it was the larger motor. direct injections, all kinds of electronics. the good ole carborated omc motors are as good as any. if it says FICHT, you are better staying away. the shops were not prepared for the technology, and poor support from OMC.

I just attended the New England Boat Show in Boston Feb. 18, 2009 and around half of the outboard boats on exhibit were sporting BRP motors, including the twin motors on the Massachusetts Environmental Police boat.

In fact the old 33 was an 18 with a bigger carb, or so i was told. You don't need electric start on it either so bypass it and save some weight. Keep the 9.9. A guy can't have too many motors.

Each one was produced at the Johnson factory in Peterborough. The powerheads are all Johnson red underneth their "original" Evinrude blue paint.

2024年4月25日 · OMC motors before 1964 often had sleeve bearings, versus roller bearings. Sleeve bearings need more lubrication, hence the 24::1 recommendation for all OMC motors before 1964. As for the 100::1 gas/oil mix, the drawback was loss of crankcase rust control, with so little oil in the fuel.
