2012年10月16日 · I inherited two old antique hand planes and sharpened one original blade (22" Auburn Jack) that was not replaceable, replaced the iron on another with a modern steel version (and a modern scraper insert). I purchased two antique hand planes off of eBay to restore, stripping and Japanning as part of the restoration process.

2011年11月7日 · Wanted to update: I found a nice little antique shop in Lancaster, NH called Potato Barn Antiques. It had a very nice selection of vintage hand tools - it's own room full. I picked up an old Sandusky wooden rabbet plane #146 for $20.

2013年2月10日 · A seller near me is cleaning shop of his antique tool collection. I am a newbie and do not have the knowledge to know if these are rare or good deals. Only info I have is that he would be willing to sell a few of the hand planes and he said he would ask $25 a piece.

2010年12月9日 · I recently won an auction from a local online auction place for a tub of old tools. I had no description of what was in it but from the picture I could tell there were some older and neat looking hand tools. Anyway I got the whole tub (ill post pics of everything later) for 17.00… Two items jumped out at me right away. These two hand saws.

2018年7月14日 · There's a antique store called "the trading post". I've bought a good bit of tools from there Been a year or two since I've been there tho cause I moved a bit south. Also in Peebles Ohio there is a antique shop that always has a lot of saws and planes. I don't remember the name of it tho.

2010年8月24日 · Don't worry too much about the collectability value of old tools. 95% of the antique tools out there aren't even worth what their brand new tool equivalents sell for. For instance, if you bought a Stanley No 8 Bench Plane at a yard sale for $20.00 and your buddy comes over and says "Don't use that, it's an antique collectable that's worth $150!"

2020年9月30日 · Garrett & Wade were another manufacturer of metal bodied vintage hand planes that you did not mention. The founder of Lee Valley tools, before the Veritas line, used to buy from Garrett & Wade to create his "Paragon" line of hand planes. Here is one on eBay.

2018年11月17日 · It is indispensable for hand cranked boring. I have a "franken-drill", which has the head stock of a smallish self feed post drill rigged onto the post of a once-electric drill press. (I think it is a Buffalo Forge #40) I rigged a chuck from a junk brace I got in a job lot of bits with a short length of 1/2" stock to fit in the post drill's chuck.

2011年3月24日 · This is a vintage 8 PPI (7 TPI) 26" crosscut hand saw made by Spear & Jackson in Sheffield, England over 100 years ago when Spear & Jackson were at the forefront of saw manufacture. The saw plate is cast steel, taper ground and has a straight tooth line. There are no missing teeth and no kinks.
