2020年6月18日 · Key point - the Traeger probe did not extend fully in to the middle of the roast. When the probe was at 130F, I checked with a handheld and at Rib 3 in the middle it was only 120F. I upped to 450F to reverse sear, but used the handheld to make sure the middle was 130F before I removed the roast. Probably could have used a 4 rib roast even for 9.

2020年6月11日 · I made a prime rib on the Traeger for Easter. Made a herb and garlic compound butter, covered the entire roast in it. Cooked at 225 using hickory pellets until it hit 120 degrees. Then seared to finish on the gas grill. Delicious and perfectly cooked imho. Video for the recipe is got the idea from is on a YouTube channel HeyGriIllHey.

I’ve done smaller roasts at 250 abd then seared on my grill, and the rule of thumb of 30 min per pound held up well. But with such a big roast, I’m hoping to hear from someone with experience.

Rub it with a little olive oil and liberally apply rub of black pepper and kosher salt. Let it sit out for at least 30min to warm up before putting on the Traeger at 225 with a smoke tube till internal temp hits 120 (for a 6lb, probably about 3hrs).

2022年6月10日 · Prime rib roast or steak? 1 or 3 bone. If it’s a roast I’ll sear it first. High temp 15 mins each side. Then remove and wrap until grill cools to 225, once Lower temp is hit add super smoke, put it back on until desired internal. I will reverse sear a prime rib steak. Thermometers are your friend don’t be afraid to try new things.
