Alabasta is so well regarded in the one piece community because it’s the first real saga that has an overarching villain unlike the east blue saga. Also the villain are vastly superior to pretty much everyone. He has a real motive compared to just being a dick (Morgan, arlong, and sanjis villain) or settling down (kuro).

2022年6月2日 · Alabasta itself: Unlike most places in the GL, Alabasta is a country and Oda making us truly feel the scale of the country by making the SHs visit multiple towns and cities is just genius. While this does make the arc seem too long, I don't think that bothers me too much and I think that much sacrifice is not really even a bad choice.

2020年9月27日 · In the original one piece episodes, the place is called “Arabasta” but in the special edition it’s called “Alabasta.” I heard one piece has places based on the countries and cultures of the real world, but idk if that’s true bc someone told me.

Anyone who’s acquainted with One Piece will recognize that Alabasta is heavily inspired by Middle Eastern and North African cultures. From the clothing to the architecture, Alabasta is a homage to these regions. Ignoring this in casting isn’t just dismissive; it’s a form of gaslighting fans from these actual cultures.

2023年7月1日 · Arabasta because it better retains both references the term appears to have ("Arabia" and "Alabaster") vs. Alabasta which only retains one. Arabasta was also what was originally used by fan translators back in the day and has been used more recently and more often in original official material so I don't think it's much of a contest.

In the same vein, the Romance Dawn arc is pretty good, but One Piece got better later on starting in Alabasta. I've noticed three general things that One Piece does really well, all of which have to do with Eiichiro Oda's long-form storytelling ability: Oda is very good at foreshadowing.

2021年4月21日 · I mean, it's one of the most popular arcs in the series, easily. For a long time it was considered the gold standard for a One Piece arc. When it first came out it was basically the arc that made One Piece a hit. Personally I didn't like it that much when I first read it (though it has some great moments), but I joined the party very late.
