GNU stands for "GNU is not unix" it is an operating system developed by Richard Stallman in 1984, it waited a couple od years to be published, until 1991 when Linus Torwalds made Linux kernel, and they merged it together to make a stable Os, since Linux is just a kernel, and gnu is operating system, Richard Stallman argues that is only fair to be called, gnu/Linux, look up for.

Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

GNU/Linux is a useful name to refer to all of the systems that offer a compatible (mostly)POSIX operating system, as opposed to the name Linux, which is an operating system, but not necessarily POSIX.

2022年2月15日 · The Kernel is not GNU. And GNU is not the kernel. And the GCC, though it proceeds from the GNU, is not the GNU or the kernel. These three together form a fully-functioning GNU/Linux operating system. There is no OS but GNU, and Linux is one of its kernels (tbh, it's its only kernel.)

Some from the FSF may disagree with me (pointing out that GNU packages exist in the distribution), but when naming a system I consider the base OS (everything you need to get Linux booting without panicking for lack of init, and up to some level of POSIX conformance for file system manipulation and such).

2022年6月18日 · They only upload games for gnu/Linux so they don't mind if it doesn't work in Windows. There's plenty uploaders already. Dwarfs has a great compression and extraction rate and it's way better than 7 zip and can be played without extracting or installing. So you don't have to wait several hours to install a game, like fitgirl games.
