2021年10月8日 · A proper leather shoe or boot that has been treated with wax, etc. can be, and is very water resistant- ranging from matching Goretex, to only slightly below it when the membrane is brand new. Within days/weeks that leather boot is as good or better than the membrane from then to the end of the shoes life.

2023年10月19日 · Gore-Tex boots and shoes have a waterproof/breathable liner that vents water vapor into the leather or fabric exterior of your boots and shoes, where it can evaporate. But this process breaks down when the exterior of your boots becomes saturated from walking in the rain or fording a stream and the water vapor inside your boots has nowhere to go.

Gore-Tex® fabric lined boots should be protected the same as you would treat them if Gore-Tex® was not present. Beeswax does not affect Gore-Tex® and Gore-Tex® does nothing to protect the outer boot from water and other abuse.

2023年12月28日 · Gore-Tex boots are lined with the Gore bootie - 99.9% of leather lined boots are not Gore-Tex. I have been very happy with the Lowa Renegade LL (leather lined), though I have not storm-tested them. Lowa offers several models in LL, with the Renegades on the lighter/more flexible end of the range.

2016年9月10日 · Personally I always go for a boot with a single piece leather construction with a Gore-Tex (or similar) liner. The fewer panels there are and the less stitching there is the better. The Gore-Tex lining does offer a guarantee of waterproofness even if the outer layer of leather becomes fully saturated and is breached.
