2020年10月1日 · I think ever shop has at less one box. It was used for production welding I did not use 7024 rod as I one doing overhead welding. I have known one welder that like 7024 and think just weld with any rod. He retire from my father in 1957. But he start welding when he was about 18. Did welding in both world war one and two. Never used MIG or TIG.

2011年7月12日 · I love jet rod, when the wind is blowing, the feeder doesn't want to play and you need to lay down some weld, 7024 is the balls. I will run 3/16 jet rod with the old Lincoln on buckets, cutting edges, hammers, or anywhere else alot of metal needs to be laid down.

2019年12月8日 · When I was fabing metal metal using sticks use 6013, 7014 and 7024. The only time 6010, 6011 or 7018 was use if drawings spec that rod. I have seen 2003 11018-D2 on drawings. You choose the best rod for production. When I was welding purlin in the feild it 6013. I see here a lot in this post using 6011,6010 welding purlins .

2013年4月10日 · 7014 has similar characteristics to 7018, but is not a low-hydrogen rod, and so does not have to be stored in a rod oven. One feature of 7014 that stands out is that the rod itself burns up inside the flux coating, meaning that the beginning weldor can drag the flux coating on the base metal and the rod automatically maintains the proper arc gap.

2014年4月12日 · Approx ~50lbs of 7024 SMAW welding rod. I do not remember what brand the seller said they were. Bought on ebay a few years ago, burned a couple so I guess techincally it's about 49lbs and change or so. Started on TIG shortly thereafter, so they been sitting indoors for the last couple years.

2014年3月1日 · We called 7024 'Jet Rod'. It only ran flat or horizontal, +- 5 degrees. Mud Rod was something else. The shop was stocked with every stick rod made, including 'Mud Rod', but it was never used. It was brown, and had a heavy flux that broke just like 7024. I believed it to be the generational antecedent of 7024, but do not know this with surety.

2022年3月20日 · For general fabrication , and repair work 7014 is a good easy to run general purpose rod. Most welding failures I see are from bad welds. Most times when something has failed, I rarely can tell what kind of welding rod was used, or even what process was used. There seems to be just as many bad wire feed welds as there are stick welds.

2012年2月27日 · I'm NOT a professional welder, so pardon the ignorant questions.... I've read that 7024 is a "drag rod." Would 7014 also be considered a "drag rod" too? Also, does 7014 have similar welding characteristics as 6013, or are the two completely different? I know that 6013 was designed for sheet metal originally on DC-, yet works well on AC.

I could weld overhead with torch. It gave me something a goal to weld. At one time made a 7034 or 6034 very fast rod I never seen that rod. Dave We called 7024 "hippie" rod.

2015年6月6日 · A friend gave me some 1/4" Hobart 7024-1. So today I had some play time and burned a few. Slag peels itself, and the rest is very easy to remove. Really heavy burn back, so restrikes are a little difficult. Man, these things are like baseball bats! 18" long and about 1/2" in diameter! This is a full rod pass!
