We’re dedicated to preserving and telling the stories of: The pioneering days of aviation and passenger travel across the North Atlantic; The rich maritime history of the River Shannon and the port of Foynes

Boat Displays. Explore our extensive display of commercial and leisure boats from the river, as well as a large-scale model of the River Shannon’s estuary.

The Flying Boat Museum features the Maureen O’Hara Exhibition. Plans are in place to significantly expand this exhibit as well, so that we can display the entire collection. The museum is closed for the Winter.

Meet 4 Historically Important Flying Boat Airlines. Four airlines—all familiar names today—flew through Foynes. Each has its own fascinating history and a unique connection to Foynes Airport from the flying boat days. Pan American Airways. Pan Am was founded in 1927 by Juan Trippe.
