"Goldilocks and the Three Bears" is a 19th-century English fairy tale of which three versions exist. The original version of the tale tells of an impudent old woman who enters the forest home of three anthropomorphic bachelor bears while they are away.

So naughty, frightened little Goldilocks jumped; and whether she broke her neck in the fall, or ran into the wood and was lost there, or found her way out of the wood and got whipped for being a bad girl and playing truant, no one can say. But the Three Bears never saw anything more of her.

Who Wrote "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"? In 1837, the first version of the story, as most of us know it, was published as "The Story of the Three Bears" by Robert Southey. For years this was thought to be the original until the middle of the 20th century when an older version was found.
