2024年11月17日 · I'm wanting to install or build a hidden door that allows access to our attic. I'm thinking I'd like it to be a in-wall recessed shelf that opens like a door. So instead of your typical hidden door this would be a smaller 7-8" deep recessed shelf. It won't go down to the floor nor the ceiling. It would just kind of fit in the middle of that wall.

2022年10月27日 · The access door doesn’t even have to open with hinges. It could just sit there being held in place with magnets or whatever. I just want it to be unnoticeable. Do you guys have any ideas? I don’t need a full door maybe something about 24” wide and maybe 3-4 feet tall and would pretty much be unnoticeable if possible.

2018年5月10日 · So - any ideas how to make a hinged top for this area but still look nice and mostly hidden? My only idea so far is to put a 1" border around the opening, caulked to the drywall then fit a hinged slab in with tight gaps on the left and right. Not great, but it would work.

2010年12月3日 · The door can need seasonal adjustments, but if it's more then this, contact Larson. The door is under warranty. How a door closes depends a lot on how tight the main door is and whether it's open or closed. If the main door is closed, there will be an "air cushion" between the doors which will slow or stop a storm from latching.

2009年3月2日 · Open the door part way, activate the closer 'stop' to hold the door in a slightly open position, pull the pin that attaches the closer to the door and reposition it to a hole further away from the hinge side of the door. This will make the closer pull the door harder/allow more retraction from the pneumatic closer.

2015年2月13日 · When we get heavy rain and winds, debris blows into the bottom of the steps and clogs the drain...creating an issue with water coming in under the basement door. Any ideas on how to add an extension onto a rebuilt deck which completely encloses these steps? I would envision an exit door at the top of the steps. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

2024年1月31日 · I also wanted to make my fixed panel removable to get larger furniture through. You’re right, usually, the fixed panel is integrated into the frame, so there aren’t obvious screws or attachment points.I once tackled this by carefully using an oscillating tool to cut around the edge of the frame to see if there were any hidden screws.

2022年1月13日 · I once saw a heavy outdoor cellar door (and at another old house, a heavy horizontal attic access door at the top of a full staircase) hooked up with a rope, a simple pulley and a suspended counterweight. Once you started to push it, the counterweight almost takes over and lifts the door the rest of the way for you.

2013年7月23日 · I'm beginning to question my idea for the hidden door so I'm looking for help or verification I'm going the right way with it. My plan was going to cut my subfloor in, then cut to size for the hidden door, put the hinge & latch down, cushion & cut my laminate wood-like flooring to size for the door & rest of the flooring.
