The bulkhead doors are ideal for access to a basement and to allow you to move large storage items, hot water tanks, furnaces, pool tables, furniture, etc. through the door.

It would have sides, but they would need to be sealed on bottom and where it meets the existing frame work. I'd check a Bilco dealer or with the manufacturer to see what dimensions are available.
