I have an MSI GS66 and MSI has a software called MSI Dragon Center and under the General Settings there's a GPU Switch and I just choose Discrete Graphics Mode. Now my nvidia control panel shows my 2nd monitor and my laptop monitor.

Not to say it’s a compatibility issue but probably preference.
