2019年5月1日 · If not strutting, I look at beard. Rarely have I killed a sharp, long spurred turkey in the Ouachita Mountains. I have killed numerous turkeys in the 24 lb range and one 26 lb turkey that did not have one inch spurs. Unfortunately, I have not had to make that decision in the past five years because I have not seen a jake in that time.

2009年8月24日 · It was pretty cool though as this turkey let me practice my turkey calling by hanging around for about 20 minutes and even posed for some photos. Another question, I had a gobbler hang up at about 70 yards. He was on the opposite ridge from us and would not come closer, he just walked up and down the ridge. He finally lost interest and walked away.

2015年12月9日 · I have shot about every big game critter in North America and a few in Africa plus a lot of other birds. I recently retired and am thinking about a 2026 Roadtrip to hunt in 6 or so states. Non-resident turkey tags tend to be inexpensive and over the counter. A turkey is a heck of a lot easier to pack out on this old man's back than a bull elk, too!

2020年9月1日 · A wild jake may only be 8 to 10 months during the peak breeding period of his first year. So, I think it would depend if the wild jake is an early hatch or late hatch if he is fertile. Also, it would be more likely that a jake would be sexually mature for the second or 3rd clutch breedings. Peacocks are the same way at 2.

I set up the jake broadside to me and run some fishing line that is spooled on a small reel, from an eye-hook screwed into the Jake’s breast, back to the blind.

Justin,. I looked at your first picture of the jake and the hen but the hen is at least 6-8 ft away from the jake. You have followed along on a lot of my turkey hunts and can see I place the hen right in front or under the Jake as pictured.
