Well he is a very interesting character. In a way he acts like a stereotypical rebel teen but at the same time can be quite wise and mature. He helps us understand the older characters better by comparing them with him. That's a very useful tool in a story like Nana (that talks a lot about personal growth and maturity/or lack of it).

Imo, Shin and Reira's situation is similar to Hachi and Asano's Tbh, this kind of relationship is common in Japanese society. Unfortunately, many people in this society are similar to the characters in the manga; they’re just ignorant and judgmental, and they choose to turn a blind eye to avoid getting involved in immoral or illegal situations.

Nana grew up with a grandmother who was very strict and held very traditional views regarding sex, she passed them onto Nana, and Nana herself was expelled from school due to rumours of her partaking in prostitution.

2024年1月28日 · Shin is one of my favorite characters. He's matured a lot over the course of the chapters and I can't condemn his love story with Reira. His love for her is complex. It’s a mixture of love, obsession, and codependency but I think that, in a slightly toxic way, their love was real. Thoughts? I even made a playlist about them :)

2015年7月19日 · Oh my. Sudden Nana O/Shin fight. Escalated pretty quick, too. I didn't see that level of enmity coming! Evidence is piling up for actual, no-foolin' psychological problems in Nana O.
