The thing is, they advertise the price **after** the $4,000 credit. So they're looking to take the credit at the time of purchase, which seems to be a new thing. But oddly, some of their cars are listed for sale over $21,000 after the credit, which means the price before the credit is over $25,000 which means the cars don't qualify.

Hello internet! Need some help, I'm a big car guy, but don't really know anything about electric cars. I need to buy a car for my daughter, and the Nissan Leaf seems like a good option. We don't need range whatsoever, she will be driving at most 5 miles away. The size is perfect, I see the used values are really low.

2023年8月25日 · The reason why used EV prices are falling is because of the availability of the 7.5k and additional state tax credits that are only available on buying a new EV. However, there is a 4k used EV credit available for used EVs 25k or less. So there might be some deals to be had in that price range.

2021年7月18日 · If you can deal with the extra complication then great, there are a lot of cars to choose from, but otherwise you'll probably be wanting a Tesla or a series plug-in hybrid. The go-to hybrids are the Chevy Volt and BMW i3 REx. The latter has a lot more electric range - it's essentially a full EV with a little motorbike engine to top it up.

There are also claims that used-car buyers can’t afford to buy EVs and live the EV life. That doesn’t make a lot of sense, given that electric cars are typically much cheaper to operate and maintain. It is certainly true that charging electric cars can be difficult for people who don’t have home charging or at least workplace charging.

You can find some really good gems if you look on local classifieds (i.e. Craigslist/FB marketplace). Often you'll see people who are selling cars for cheap because they don't know what they have.

But when you buy a used gas car you can be surprised that suddenly you have to replace something big and expensive even the engine. Floridians know all about that hurricane flooded used car surprise. Car looked great in every way but nope. Same chance for either.
