White Turtlehead is a native, clump-forming wildflower found in moist areas along stream banks, open woodlands, fens, flood plains and marshes. The blooms appear on 6-8 inch spikes and open from bottom to top in late summer to fall.

Creamy white snapdragon like flowers in tight heads at the top of the plant give a fresh display in late summer (August and September). Flowers resemble a turtle’s head. Attractive shiny dark green foliage really sets off the flowers and creates a good backdrop for earlier flowering plants.

White Turtlehead is named for its distinctive flowers which are said to resemble a turtle's head. This wetland plant will strongly prefer wet to moist soils in full to mostly sun. The blooms are pollinated mostly by bumblebees, which have the size and strength to pry open the bloom and reach the nectar inside.
