Figure skating was first contested in the Olympic Games at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Since 1924, the sport has been a part of the Winter Olympic Games . Men's singles, ladies' singles , and pair skating have been held most often.

Figure skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China. The five events took place between 4 and 20 February 2022. [1] A total of 144 quota spots were distributed to figure skating, a decline of four from the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

Figure skating is the oldest sport in the Winter Olympic Games, but it was already part of the the 1908 Summer Games in London and in Antwerp in 1920. Up to 1972, there were competitions for men’s and women’s singles and pairs. Ice dance was added in 1976.
