We know the true form of his zanpakuto and whatnot but I still think that Getsuga Tensho is a passed on technique to shiba clan members based on how isshin also knows Getsuga Tensho and capable of using it (albeit fire based it seems).

Ichigo could no longer use his mask after his fight with Ulquiorra where he turned full hollow in order to protect Orihime. The only thing we got from the novel is that the original ancestor of the Shiba clan was trying to create a technique for a different purpose (I won't spoil since it's a huge thing from the most recent novel) that might or might not have been Getsuga (besides Getsuga being a sort of a Shiba clan technique nothing really points to that).

Also it’s not overestimating, we know FGT Ichigo is around Soul King level (Aizen stated he’s a 5th dimensional being at that state).
