Alligator ears are right behind the eyes and they can seal them off when they submerge. I’ve tried testing their hearing while underwater a few times with no luck but it was cool to see Seven could still hear me when only maybe a foot under. Not impressive, but so far I’ve gotten no reaction at any depth and I figured having the ears closed plus the water meant no hearing at all. Not much but it’s something! Alligator senses! My personal experiences have taught me alligators have excellent senses of hearing and scent detection, far exceeding what a human can do. Their eyesight definitely works differently than ours which makes people think they have poor vision, but when I go to catch one and try to sneak up they spot me from WAY far away, so they have excellent vision but it works differently than ours.
