What trees have you found Chicken of the Woods at the base of? Laetiporus cincinnatus is typically the one that I find growing in this fashion (with the white pores on the underside). L. sulphureus is the one that usually grows on dead fallen logs, so tree ID is a bit more difficult (but still possible in many cases!).
