More horsing around than usual at the Vatican today. While some countries have the blessing of animals on the Feast of Saint Francis, in Italy that’s traditionally done today, on the Feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot. Each year on January 17th, a full on stable is set up in front of Saint Peter’s Basilica. There’s a little parade around noon and a Cardinal comes to bless the animals, which include dogs, horses, goats, a variety of chickens, donkeys, rabbits, and more. | The Catholic Traveler
