Zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) are a non-native species that often shows up in polluted lakes in large numbers and are disliked by many. They attach themselves to boats, docks, rocks or just about anything. In our case when the marina pulls in the docks for the winter, it kills the mussels that are attached.
