Let’s take a look inside the Navy hovercraft inside the USS WASP LHD 1 during Fleet Week New York. The USS Wasp was one of the many military vessels open for Fleet Week in NYC this May. On this day in 1964, Intrepid set a fleet refueling at sea record by rigging oiler USS Pawcatuck in 6 minutes, 39 seconds! Refueling at sea was a delicate operation, captured here on film by Intrepid crew members in the 1960s and 70s.
